Railway line reopening 22 February

We promised to update you on progress with repairs to the rail line serving Oxford to Worcester. You will remember that on Friday 10 February a road bridge over the railway collapsed onto the rail line near Yarnton.
Network Rail engineers have completed initial repairs to the structure along with repairs to the embankment, enabling the railway line to reopen this morning. A temporary 20mph speed restriction will be in place under the bridge until the second phase of longer-term repairs to reinforce the structure and ground are completed.
Construction for this phase of work is due to begin at the end of next week. We expect this to take a couple of weeks to complete. The work will however be carried out overnight to limit disruption to passengers. We will continue to keep you updated on progress.
