Bikes not banned on Trains, its a typo!
After local intervention and investigation, FGW suggest new timetable details regarding the banning of bikes on peak trains is a typo, and not an intentional move.
Therefore there is not a ban on cycles on the peak commuter trains to Oxford and London.
It is however suggested that bookings are made.

Bikes banned from peak trains?
First Great Western has published its timetable from 20th May onwards. (Available here: symbols explained here.)
Though times from Charlbury appear little changed, one unwelcome change is the introduction of an (X) symbol above the morning services at 6.47, 7.29 and 8.34 - indicating that bikes are not allowed on these services. The 7.29 and 8.34 are HSTs with a spacious 'guard's van' area traditionally used by Charlbury commuters to store their bikes.
The same symbol has also appeared on the evening trains leaving London at 5.22, 5.52 and 6.22.

The Garden Society will be holding its annual Plant Sale in the memorial Hall - doors opening at 9.30. There will be bedding plants and perrenials plus all sorts of vegetable plants for sale. The bulk of the plants sell out in the first half hour as the quality is very high and the prices very reasonable. So you may need to start queuing well before 9.30. to avoid disappointment.
