Eleanor Draycott
Rest In Peace to Miss Eleanor Anne Draycott, born on 11th August 1984, who passed away on Monday 24th July at the age of 38, following a battle with cancer.
She had moved to Charlbury with her parents, believed to have been in 2001, after a childhood spent living in multiple parts of the country.
She studied then worked in Liverpool from 2003, relocating back to Charlbury in 2013-15, and after a year spent living in Leeds, relocated back permanently in 2016.
She was a regular contributor on the Charlbury Forum, was known and loved by many people in Charlbury, and was someone who often went along to the town's events.
She was generous, kind, outgoing, sociable, and a loving daughter and fiancée.
She will be sorely missed.

Proposed housing development on Woodstock Road
Developer MacKenzie Miller Homes are proposing a development of up to 28 properties in Charlbury. Half of these would be affordable homes. The majority of these properties would be located in the field neighbouring Cottsway’s garage site, with vehicular access off the Woodstock Road. MMH are currently working up the planning application package and will be ready to present their proposals at a meeting on Thursday 20th July at 5-7pm in the Memorial Hall.
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to review the proposals and to raise any concerns or queries. Ahead of the meeting we do not have any designs to share but can confirm that all construction traffic would be via the Woodstock Road and only a pedestrian link is proposed through the garage site into Hughes Close. A small number of properties (probably 4 maisonettes) will potentially be sited on the garage site itself which would be accessed from Hughes Close.
The meeting will start the consultation process and we do not have any firm timescales at this point. We are not looking to terminate the garage tenancies until planning has been granted.
This is the website for MacKenzie Miller Homes: https://www.mackenziemillerhomes.co.uk/
If residents wish to contact MMH ahead of the meeting the website contains a contact form. I am also attaching a little brochure which we can share with residents.
A site survey is proposed for the 20th July which may affect access to the garages on the day. Once this is confirmed we will write to all of our garage tenants to let them know. We have previously written to the immediate neighbours at 23 & 24 Hughes Close as well as a licence holder at 36 Little Lees. We are in direct contact with the latter as the development will impact on the land they are currently using.

Oxford Station closed between Sat. July 29 and Sun. August 6 2023
Oxford Rail Station is completely closed between Saturday July 29 and Sunday August 6th. The closure is to allow upgrades to the track and signalling system to take place. No trains will run to or from Oxford Station on any of these dates.
There will also be a number of overnight and one-day closures on the following dates: Sunday August 13; Sunday September 10; Saturday September 16; Sunday, October 15.
On closure sates trains will run on the Cotswold line as far as Hanborough, but on an altered timetable. There will be a Rail Replacement Bus to Didcot from there, except on RMT strike dates which includes Saturday July 29th (as well as on Thursday 20 July and Saturday 22 July which are both outside the closure period).
Oxford Parkway station will remain open during the closure period, except on the RMT strike dates. Those wanting to travel to London from Oxford Parkway could consider getting the S3 bus to Woodstock and changing to the no 7 bus there. From July 23rd the timetable for the S3 bus is changing. Note some of the early buses do not run along Sturt Road or The Slade, but can be picked up at Enstone Rd, The Bell or Five Ways (Wellington Cottages).

Open Gardens Raised over £1,600
Very many thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make the Open Gardens such a success! We had an amazing range of different gardens open this year. So thanks to all those who opened their gardens and to the Charlbury Garden Society for all their organisation. Thanks are also due to those who sold programmes and raffle tickets, the team of bakers, tea makers and washers up - as well as the Morris dancers and Children's choir. And to everyone who braved the hot afternoon to visit the gardens thank you too.

Nine Acres Lane closed - Thames Water
You are probably aware of the mayhem and congestion this morning along Thames Street/Dyers Hill as Thames Water has dug up the road near New Barn garage. So drivers are unable to turn right up Nine Acres Lane.
I have contacted Thames Water who didn't realise (!) the length of the diversion required to access the rest of Charlbury from the west.
The Thames Water planning team is currently working on the diversion as an emergency and aim to put a diversion and adequate signage in ASAP!!
Thames Water phone number is 0800 316 9800. There is no relevant extension so I recommend just choosing any if you do phone them.

hedge fund🦔🦔🦔
It’s been a very busy week at the heg-spital with lots of babies 1-2 weeks old and in need of bottle feeds every few hours. I feel like I am living in a silvanian house! They are all super sweet and are just starting to curl up tight with all feet tucked in, quite a mile stone most of us can only dream of. As ever we really appreciate any support. A couple of youngsters are needing vet care and medication and we had to invest in some new runs with smaller mess and solid sides so our mini guests can’t escape. We are currently full right now, please can any HH you are worried about to a rescue or wildlife hospital over the next couple of weeks.
