Last chance to enter Charlbury's Battle of the Bands

Charlbury's search for the 6X Factor goes on, with the deadline for entering Charlbury's first Battle of the Bands now extended till the end of March. Be warned - there's already some stiff opposition - but successful entrants will be competing for further bookings and a cash prize, awarded by our special celebrity judges.

WODC says "don't forget your bus pass"

West Oxfordshire District Council is reminding local people to apply for a bus pass as soon as possible, as the eligibility rules are changing.

"From 6th April 2010, the Government is changing the age of eligibility for national concessionary travel scheme. This will rise gradually from 60 to 65 over the next 10 years, in line with the changes to the state pension age for women.

"This change will affect anyone applying for a bus pass whose 60th birthday falls on or after this date. Anyone who already has a bus pass, or is already 60, will not be affected."

Spring show postponed

Charlbury Garden Society's spring show -- set to take place on 27th March -- has been postponed. In the view of the Show Secretary, the unusually cold weather has so delayed spring flowering that there will not be sufficient exhibits. The Society is trying to find an alternative date: April 24th is likely but not yet confirmed.

Charlbury Dairy (story updated)

Update, Tuesday 16th: Estate agent Kemp & Kemp say that their announcement of an agreed sale (originally posted on their Twitter feed) was in error. They say it was meant to apply to another property in OX7, and continue: "hopefully, we'll be able to supply positive news re Charlbury Dairy in the not too distant future but for the moment the property remains fully available."

Estate agents Kemp & Kemp have agreed a sale for the Charlbury Dairy development site. The site was is on the market for £1.2m with planning permission for two four-bedroom houses, four three-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom houses, and five one-bedroom apartments. The site is not the actual dairy itself, but rather the modern house with attached shop next door, extending back:
