CHARLBURY COMMUNITY CENTRE - NEWS - DECEMBER 2015
WREN Award and Other Generous Grants to New Centre
We are extremely pleased to have been awarded a sizeable grant from WREN Community Fund which, together with some matching finance from a local foundation, allows us to access another £50,000 towards the Centre. In addition £5,500 has been generously donated by Charlbury Beer Festival and £5,000 from TOE2 (Trust for Oxfordshire Environment). Grant donations have also been gratefully received from Bartlett Taylor Charitable Trust in Witney, Doris Field Charitable Organisation, PYE Charitable Settlement and PF Charitable Trust. In addition, the Charlbury Community Centre Appeal has now raised an amazing £207,000 through various events as well as the popular 'Buy-a-Brick' scheme - currently suggesting you might like to give 'a token brick' as an unusual Christmas present!
We are hugely appreciative of all donations as we near the start of building our new Community Centre. The Trustees of the Thomas Gifford Trust are expecting to sign a fixed price 'Design & Build' Contract in Spring 2016 and construction work will hopefully start on site in May. All going well, the Centre will be 'open for business' in Spring 2017. In the meantime, if you can help in any way, please do get in touch with Marjorie Glasgow (MGlasgow@theridgegroup.com) or Tanya Stevenson (billandtanya@outlook.com ).
