Up to 90% rail fare rise from 17 May
A typical return from Charlbury to London will cost almost 90% more from mid-May as a result of changes introduced by First Great Western.
The changes are:
- Off-Peak tickets will no longer be permitted on the 17.22, 17.52 and 18.22 from Paddington.
- The price of Off-Peak Returns is being increased.
- A new Super Off-Peak Return ticket will be introduced at a similar price to the old Off-Peak. This will be valid after 10.00 from Charlbury, but will not be valid for returning from Paddington between 15.52 and 18.22.
Currently a return from Charlbury to Paddington on the 08.31, returning on the 18.22, costs £33.30. From mid-May this will increase to £62.40, a rise of almost 90%.
FGW has not made any public announcement about the rises, but the new prices can be viewed via the journey-planner at www.fgw.co.uk.
