January 2016: Merger completed
The merger has been completed between the Charlbury Motor Fire Brigade Fund and The Thomas Gifford Trust, meaning that the Fund's resources are now available to provide part of the funding needed for the new Charlbury Community Centre. Having given the matter careful consideration, the trustees of the CMFBF decided that it would make better use of the Fund's money - which came from the sale of the old Fire Station in Browns Lane in 2008 - to help with building the Community Centre. This will be of benefit to everyone within the town and its neighbourhood, rather than just the few organisations and individuals who had asked for grants in the past. Once the Community Centre has been built, The Thomas Gifford Trust hopes to be able to make resources available once again for this type of grant-giving, as a way of continuing the tradition set by the CMFBF since 1975.
