Thanks to Charlie Clews for getting the youth contingent organized and thanks to Charlie Peacock and all the CCCA for the fantastic fundraising over the past 10 years. The new Community Centre needs more groups to come forward and let us know how they want to use the Centre and what resources they'll need.

Along those lines, SYG (Senior Youth Group) applied for and won a grant for youth furnishings - soft furniture, bean bags, iPad station, ping pong table, etc. A great start.

We need to know how other groups want to use the Centre and the resources they need. CCCA welcomes ideas and involvement.

Thanks, Charlie.

Wow, I didn't expect this to detract from or hijack any fundraising, hopefully by developing a group they can work together to help with this. At the moment though the thought is to focus on creating something and engaging with the youth (I hate that word) so they can add their weight and enthusiasm to the process.

It's encouraging to read the enthusiastic responses but, as a member of the CCCA Committee, I, and other Committee members, would welcome this same enthusiasm in respect of the fund raising we carry out throughout the year.
We would welcome any new members with fresh fund raising ideas to help us reach our target so that we will be able to incorporate the facilities mentioned within the new Community Centre.

Nice one Helen! We should probably move this feed to Facebook and create a group page etc but for now I hope more people might get involved here.

All, I've been put intouch with Oxfordshire Youth, an organisation specialising in establishing and supporting community youth groups. Watch this space. .. . . or I'll give an update next week when I've spoken to them. Progress though.

Romaine, a great idea and definitely food for thought. My only reservation with a direct link is that the club should have its own identity. No doubt it will overlap with various other sports or social clubs, and that's a huge part of it, but it should remain autonomous so anyone who doesn't want to be a scout for example still feels they have place. I think they'd have a massive amount to contribute though so please float the idea with them.

Brilliant idea! My 12 yr old son and I were just talking about having a youth club (monthly/fortnightly) in the new development the other day. Perhaps it's worth getting the local Charlbury Scouts involved? The Scout hut serves a great purpose but it isn't the most inspiring building (very damp) and the guys do a superb job at keeping the children busy and active. I'm sure if one did a questionnaire/poll there would be lots of I great ideas! Do you want me to ask if they want to join in?

Charlie, what a great idea. Having spoken with George and Max , they would be willing to get involved and give ideas of what 10 and 12 year olds want and like. You have a good grip of what this facility can offer and by engaging the various age groups can have input at the early design stage.

I am sure many others will come forward......the sporting club managers are the logical people. Come forward Mr Jenkins !!!!!

Following the fantastic news regarding the imminent arrival of the new community centre and sport hall I'm really concerned that we may miss a huge opportunity to harness the creativity, enthusiasm and sheer energy that the Charlbury youth can bring to the table.

In short I'm keen to help to…
