Wed 17 Jul, 19:32 Absolutely correct, Michael. The situation with Ukraine has been further compromised (and I do not think that is an inappropriate word) by Boris Johnson meeting with Trump and reporting back that that Trump would be "strong and decisive" in support for Ukraine if he is elected in November. This strikes me as dangerous naivety on the part of Johnson; dangerous for Ukraine, that is. It is further compounded by the fact that JD Vance, who Trump has chosen as his vice-president, is seemingly even more anti-Ukraine than Trump is. It is said that President Zelenskyy will be at the EPC Summit. This is to be welcomed, because it will give a chance to bring pressure on countries bordering Russia and Ukraine to resist intimidation by Russia with respect to Ukraine. For myself, I feel immense pride that this meeting is taking place here. I fervently hope that some good can come out of it. |
