Sat 14 Sep 2024: The Woodstock Bookshop author event

This event is in the past.

Join us to hear Professor Tim Coulson talk and take questions about his new book: The Universal History of Us

Tim describes the scientific basis of our existence beginning with its origin in the Big Bang, billions of years ago. His ultimate mission is to answer the question of whether the existence of the human race was inevitable or if in the end we are all just incredibly lucky to be here. Interwoven in this epic history of humanity are colourful snippets of Tim's own life and research.

‘Most scientists know only their own field. Tim Coulson is at home with science as an integrated whole. A pleasure to read, and a lasting accomplishment’ Richard Dawkins, University of Oxford and New College

'Step aside Star Wars – ours is the most astonishing origin story you’ll ever hear and its beautifully told by Tim Coulson’ Professor Ken Norris, Natural History Museum

Tim Coulson has played a major role in establishing the new Department of Biology at the University Oxford, where he is a Professorial Fellow at Jesus College.
