Wed 23 Apr: St George's Day Blessing of the Beer

Join us for a truly special evening in Charlbury as we blend tradition, community, and a good pint of beer! On April 23rd, St Mary's Church will host a unique celebration beginning at 6pm, where the vicar will perform a ceremonial blessing over a specially selected beer from each of our wonderful local pubs: The Bell, The Bull, The Rose and Crown, and The Three Horseshoes.

For just £5, guests are invited to sample a half pint of each of the four blessed beers in a special tasting session at the church. After the tasting, the vicar will lead a procession through the town, stopping at each pub to continue the festivities and give everyone the chance to vote for their favourite.

This unique event is a celebration of Charlbury’s community spirit, our brilliant local pubs, and a nod to St George himself—protector of all things bold and British! Whether you're a beer lover, a fan of local traditions, or just in it for the fun, come join the procession, raise a glass, and help us decide which pub pours the most blessed beer in town.
