Royal Mail - Scam

We received a card From Royal Mail through our letter box, with limited information contained on it, that the incorrect postage had been put on the item. The request was to follow the instructions on the on line portal to pay the fee, of £2.50 which was written on the card. This was done, paid by Visa card and adding an e mail address as required.

The item was a standard letter, that had one of the first class stamps applied to the envelope. Obviously the sender had not used the requisite bar code stamp, so an easy mistake.

The following day, to the e mail address previously provided to Royal Mail, we were asked to pay a further ‘re delivery’ charge of 26p and again requesting payment card details . The reason stated was the address was incomplete.  The e mail was on official Royal Mail format, but something was concerning to have 2 separate requests.

Looking onto the senders domain, the “ mail.infotrackeen.top ‘ was the only warning to prevent this being undertaken and information being provided.

No payment was made. 2 days later the original LETTER was delivered with the original 1st class stamp ( non bar code type ), with the acknowledgment Royal Mail sticker and the word paid put on to the face of the envelope.

The address was full and clear in every aspect.

Therefore, the only way that our e mail address provided to make the incorrect postage to Royal Mail, has been released to ( sold / stolen / passed to the fraudsters applying for the second charge request. ! With the current scandal of the post masters / mistress in the news and devastating the lives of so many being prosecuted for fraud , the Royal Mail need to look into their internal security. It’s not the value it’s the principle.

Shame the letter was not just delivered , but rules have to be followed. Our post person was superb and wanted details to send back to the head office reporting this to the management - i suspect it went in the bin - Maybe this is how the bonus structure is calculated or collected -!!
