To find out what cabinet you are on, the use the BT Wholesale checker and put your phone number (or other details in). Note, that I'm definitely on cabinet 3 which is on the Enstone Crossroads. Sandy's reference to 9 Acres close may be to the property location, not the cabinet. The following is the list of drop-outs that I've had since about 21:00 yesterday, 7th Sep (taken from the technical log of my router). You can see there have been several. Previous drop-outs are on the router log I swapped out to see if that's the problem, but I could get that those too if people want to compare logs.

As far as surge protectors are concerned, then they only protect the mains and don't do anything if a lightning strike causes a power surge on the phone line (which is what did for a router of mine about 5+ years ago). As it is, my router is on a UPS anyway, which protects against mains surges and power interruptions.
