Car hire has arrived in Charlbury!

I’ve just rented a great little car from David Green in Hixet Wood. It cost me £25 for a day (9–5) including breakdown and insurance – petrol is extra but it’s a very economical car.

David rents his car via https://www.hiyacar.co.uk/rent-a-car, a website that connects people with a car they don’t use all the time with people who need a car (or an extra car) occasionally.

Signing up to Hiyacar was quick and easy: to open an account you basically upload a pic of your driver’s licence and DVLA confirms the rest automatically. Next, you search for a car – there are cars in Witney, etc., but David’s is the only car in Charlbury – so far. (For how to rent out your own car out, see https://www.hiyacar.co.uk/list-your-car. You make a decent % of the rental fee.)

Booking was easy and David accepted my request within minutes. The app sent me his address and I cycled down to Hixet Wood to borrow his car for the day. This is his car https://www.hiyacar.co.uk/rent-a-car/18302-141371-citroen-c1-in-chipping-norton-ox7 . 

We have two young kids and with all their sporting fixtures, clubs and weekend parties on top of what we need to do, it can be tough getting to everything we want to. Discovering Hiyacar has saved us thousands on buying, insuring, servicing (etc.) a second family car, which I was literally about to do until I remembered David’s ad for his car (long since disappeared from https://www.charlbury.info/adverts).
