Fri 13 Apr 2007, 10:43 From Madley Park site refers to cheap affordable housing Type Sovereign Housing Group has housed more than 100 individuals, couples and families in affordable homes, since teaming up with West Oxfordshire District Council, and Leadbitter Construction to design and build some of the new estate three years ago. Another 41 affordable homes will complete the scheme next January. Today, Madley Park is a 1,000 home development, featuring new primary school, shops and other local facilities. With the completion of the second of three phases of development at Madley, local councillors, Witney MP David Cameron, and housing professionals from Sovereign will be touring the community, and answering queries from residents. Sovereign Development Manager Stuart Roberts said: “In our experience, building high quality homes and creating a safe, clean atmosphere are crucial to generating pride in a new community. We have asked residents what they think throughout the process, and this involvement has created the friendly feel since the first residents arrived.” The latest phase has been completed using part of the £13m government grant secured (by the Council's Registered Social Landlord partners) for the provision of affordable housing within West Oxfordshire." Cllr Hilary Biles, Cabinet Member for Housing at WODC said: “Providing affordable homes is a priority need for West Oxfordshire District Council as there is a shortage of low cost properties. We have been successful in gaining funds and the Madley Park development is an excellent example. We would like to thank our partners, Sovereign Housing Group and Leadbitter Construction, as these homes are already making a huge difference to the lives of many local people.” Leadbitter Social Housing Manager Peter King added: “We pride ourselves on our forward thinking approach to the design and build of sustainable, affordable housing, and have been delighted to be able to incorporate many environmentally friendly design aspects, including timber frame construction, passivent ventilation, low energy heating systems and garden water butts, within this development.” Published 21 July 2005 your posting here |
