Tue 19 May 2009, 15:04 Interesting story on BBC News this lunchtime about a low-pitched humming noise that has been disturbing people up and down the country (see this forum passim). Apparently, scientists have now "proved" that the noise is not coming from an external source but is instead an artefact resulting from oversensitive hearing (basically, if you think you can hear a noise then you do). Personally I remain sceptical and much prefer another explanation advanced in the programme, viz. that the humming is caused by aliens plugging their UFOs into the National Grid overnight to recharge them! Does this explain why my electricity bills have been so high this year? |
