Thu 28 Jul 2022, 09:21 Just making an observation, it is so much safer and easier to cross the road with the traffic lights, but I know they can't be there for ever. :( |

Thu 28 Jul 2022, 08:47 (last edited on Thu 28 Jul 2022, 14:29) This is what is happening: for the next few days, until the end of Monday, there will be temporary traffic signals as the team complete the preliminary work at the crossroads. The lights will mean that traffic can access the route to Wilderness without difficulty while this work is done. Then work will stop entirely until August 17th and 18th, when the night time surfacing will be done. On the 19th the white lines will be painted and the gullies will be cleaned, also at night. Work will be completed by August 20th. The team that is responsible for this work has been amazingly helpful and flexible in altering the plan to fit in with Wilderness's needs. The original plan took into account the festival itself, but not the period before and after the festival, which was an oversight. |

Thu 28 Jul 2022, 08:14 Four way traffic lights at the crossroads doesn't seem like they know work has stopped. |

Wed 27 Jul 2022, 16:56 (last edited on Wed 27 Jul 2022, 16:58) It is all under control. Being managed in partnership with the Wilderness organisers, who by the way are doing an excellent job with people placed at strategic points to ensure that all the traffic follows the prescribed route. The main work is being postponed until after the festival, to allow for the lorries to get to and from the site. |

Wed 27 Jul 2022, 16:17 Looking like the lunatics have taken over the asylum, who allows major road works to be undertaken near a busy junction in the build up to a major UK music festival when a large number of contractor lorries are trying to get through? |

Wed 27 Jul 2022, 11:02 Bianca, there is a misleading sign on the A 44 for traffic coming to Charlbury from the Oxford & Woodstock direction. At the junction of the A 44 and B 4437, outside the Duke of Marlborough pub, a sign directs traffic to continue ahead on A 44 rather than turn left to Charlbury. I have a photograph which clearly shows that it is the wrong sign and not simply one that can be tampered with. |

Tue 26 Jul 2022, 13:10 Hi Christine, This is incredibly useful information, thank you for taking the time to let us know. I am liaising with our traffic management company to ensure they are aware and that we use this knowledge to inform our plans. Thanks again, Team Wilderness x |

Tue 26 Jul 2022, 10:47 Hi Bianca, I do hope that your contractors know that there will be major work at the Enstone Crossroads in Charlbury about to take place from tomorrow (Wednesday 27/7/22). Details are: temporary traffic lights 7.30 - 16.30, on The Slade, Banbury Hill, 9 Acres, Enstone Rd (4 sets, multiway). This is from 27th July - 3rd August and 8th August - 16th August, but the work may overrun if the work is delayed. Then Wed. 17th August - Fri. 19th August full road closure from 19.00 - 06.00 for road surfacing. Might be later dates if the 1st stage of work has overrun. There will be a signed diversion route during the closed period. The Slade will be reopened to traffic when safe to do so when outside these times. The work will be halted for the actual days of the Wilderness Festival, but is still likely to affect the contractors setting up and taking down the Wilderness site. Sorry if you already know about this, but I didn't spot notices about it when out on the roads yesterday (may just have missed seeing them, of course), and thought it worth messaging you here. It does show up on one.network, so hopefully all is well. All best with it all ... |

Tue 26 Jul 2022, 09:10 Hi everyone, We are so excited to be in Cornbury Park building this year's Wilderness! We've changed the production traffic routes this year to cause minimal disruption to Charlbury residents and have lots of signage around to direct vehicles away from the town. We noticed some of the signage had been moved a couple of days ago, so if you spot any where is shouldn't be then please do pop a message on this thread and we will get it sorted. Thank you all!
