Excellent news.

The 'village of Charlbury' got a mensh in last Sunday's Observer supplement, as did the 'cosy' Bull Inn.  The town and its other businesses need a functioning Bell for reasons I hope are obvious (though I'm sure it would pose no threat to the R & C!).  Isn't it time we found a way to get Greene King, as a friend used to say, to 'either **** or get off the pot'??

Thanks also due to Gareth Epps who has led on this for the Town Council. NB it doesn't mean we own it, but it means Greene King have to give the community a chance to bid if they want to sell it off. It also makes it less likely it will be converted to housing. Andy Graham also let us know they plan on bringing in a new policy to protect country pubs which is good news.

It is indeed great news, as Charlie and Hannen suggest.

Charlie makes an interesting observation about the change of District Council administration control. The Town Council applied for the ACV listing 6 months ago, nothing happens under Conservative control of WODC. Within ten days of Liberal, Labour and Green taking over and under the leadership of Charlbury Councillor Andy Graham, ACV granted.

Absolutely wonderful. And how strange that it comes so quickly after the change of administration at WODC, after appearing to have been "sat on" - for APPROACHING SIX MONTHS - by the previous administration!

As some might say ... "Ho hum!"
