Advice on how to dispose of old duvet

Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. As it turns out my daughter has just asked me to look after her [very lively] dog over half term so now you've given me the 'dog idea', I'll keep it to protect my sofa and then donate to Blue Cross.

I've heard of them being used for soundproofing in recording studios. Or is that mattresses?

Can anybody suggest the best way of getting rid of a heavy king size [synthetic inner] duvet which has a few stains [coffee?] and therefore not suitable for charity shop. Thanks if you can help, otherwise I'll have to put it into general waste bin.
