Insurance premiums

Several weeks ago, before the thread got hijacked, someone raised a question about increased insurance premiums in OX7. Saga just pushed our buildings/contents premium up to about £650 (way up on last year), so I phoned CIS (Cooperative Insurance Services, who recently gave me a good price on car insurance) and was quoted about £350 for similar (in fact slightly better) cover. That includes a 10% discount because I already insure with them, and as a Cooperative member I shall get a further £35 or more back in dividend points.

Saga say they will match competing cheaper quotes, but personally I'd rather not deal with a company that pushes the boat out like that in the hope that you'll just sign a cheque and ask no questions.
