Aside from troubling concerns about local loss of ancient woodland (here), here's a wonderful piece of good news - not quite Charlbury based, but very local. It seems there are rare indigenous honeybees in the ancient woodland at Blenheim.

If you want to find ancient woods, Natural England has a searchable map; and the Woodland Trust maintains the Ancient Tree Inventory (although it seems to have missed a notable number of them in the deer park at Cornbury).
