Hi Christine - thanks for pointing this out.  If you want a good read on the subject I can recommend "Putin's People: How the KGB took back Russia and then took on the West" by Catherine Belton.  

Even if you believe the Russian propaganda machine that it's a pack of lies - it's an interesting case study on how to strip the wealth out of a country and transfer it to friendly places.

This is the lady who gives so frequently to the Witney Conservative party -- including prior to the last General Election -- and whose very generous gifts to the Conservative party more generally mean that she is one of the biggest female donors in recent British political history.

The Guardian is careful to say none of this is illegal. Disturbing reading nevertheless. A similar account in the Daily Mail and numerous other papers.
