From my limited experience they are either kept in ones sleeve or in a top hat.

Hope that helps.

We’ve had a few pairs of White Doves nesting successfully under our solar panels on the rear roof. Before we evict them using a company which will then net up the gaps twixt panels and tiles, it struck me that a Dovecote might be interesting to set up, seeing as we’ve had these resident for some months… and they are growing in number.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how to do this?

Is it insane to even consider it?

Seeing as the Doves appear to be quite happy under our panels, would the birds have any likelihood of staying and transferring to a safe Cote - would they perceive it as safer from the attentions of the Corvid nest-robbers- and how would one go about trying to get them to move out from under the panels?

The birds have materialised without having to go to the hassle of purchasing, are they “homed” enough to be possible to get to transfer to a new abode in the same back garden they are used to, and in the case of the fledged youngsters, has been the home for the whole of their lives.

We were worried by sharp inquisitive youngsters beaks and wiring etc but no signs of a problem thus far.

Anyone got any experience that they could give us?
