The Office of Rail Regulation has given the green light for Network Rail to redouble part of the Cotswold line through Charlbury.

Network Rail has been given the money in a financial settlement for the next five years and can now redouble the line from just east of Charlbury to Ascott-under-Wychwood and Moreton-in-Marsh to Evesham creating about 20 miles of extra double track.

The work is planned to be delivered by December 2010, and should get underway in the new year. There is bound to be some inconvenience whilst the work is carried out but the end result should be a more reliable and punctual train service...and the chance of more trains from Charlbury in the future.
