Thank you to everyone who came this evening to show your support and solidarity. There are now some beautiful purple ribbons along The Playing Close and the Fountain. If you couldn't come this evening, you are welcome to tie your own remembrance ribbon in the coming days.

The vigil today will begin at 8pm on The Playing Close. There will be a moment of silence at 8.15pm where we will light a candle or a torch. Then everyone is welcome to tie a purple ribbon, which Vicky Burton has donated, to the frontage of The Playing Close and the Fountain in memory of Sarah or anyone else who has been a victim or survivor of violence.

I ask everyone attending to wear a mask, to stay in your bubble and to socially distance. There will be hand sanitiser on the every entrance and exit to The Playing Close as well as a QR code to scan if you have the NHS Test and Trace app, which I encourage you to turn on. There will be stewards present to keep everyone safe.

Charlbury Town Council, West Oxfordshire District Council and Thames Valley Police have all been consulted and have endorsed a respectful and peaceful vigil.

The rescheduled vigil will take place on Friday 16th April at 8pm on The Playing Close. April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and therefore it feels even more important to show solidarity for Sarah Everard, her family and her friends, and other women and girls who experience harassment, stalking and assault.

There will be a moment of silence at 8.15pm where we will light a candle or a torch and then all are welcome to tie a purple ribbon to the frontage of The Playing Close and the Fountain in memory of Sarah or anyone else who has been a victim or survivor of violence.
