There seems to be a lot of interest in a meeting giving an opportunity for people to use Welsh.  Is anyone prepared to arrange such a gathering?  I would if I could but I can’t!

Likewise completed Mynediad 1, and began 2, ages ago. Neither need nor opportunity to speak, but it would be fun.

I would love to meet up to speak Welsh. Close to end of Mynediad 1 with Dysgu Cymraeg. Family now living in Machynlleth which is what inspired me to start. Love it.

I would be interested. I am not Welsh but did level 1 and 2 at Dysgur Cymraeg a long while ago in Oxford at evening class.  Very Rusty now but would love to do more. I do have the opportunity to speak and hear Welsh fairly regularly.

Following on from this thread from last year, would anyone be interested in meeting up to chat in Welsh?

I think Duolingo is fine, as long as one is willing to stick with it long enough (which usually I am not). Very good for taxi drivers in various parts of the world who seem to have learnt very adequate English whilst waiting for fares -- and then very happy to practise their English on me.

There is a free Open University course on Welsh, but it is not very long:  https://www.open.edu/openlearn/languages/welsh/croeso-beginners-welsh/content-section-0?active-tab=description-tab

City Lit Welsh courses (from £10 upwards) are here, and are currently delivered online:  https://www.citylit.ac.uk/courses/languages/celtic/welsh

Welsh courses offered from Cardiff (not free) are here: https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/welsh/courses/professional-courses-and-welsh-for-adults

Have you tried using Duolingo? It's hilariously awful!

Great idea Fiona, I'd be up for that as I don't get many opportunities to practice.

It would be great if all learning Welsh could meet up to converse and practice I for one would enjoy this, as welsh is my second language and only get the chance to use it when I go home to north Wales 🏴

If you do Duolingo on a laptop with an ad blocker you don't get the ads.

The Open University also does a free 4 hour introductory course in Welsh at https://www.open.edu/openlearn/languages/welsh/croeso-beginners-welsh/content-section-0

I don't know of any personally, but there are some excellent opportunities to learn online at the moment. I'm currently learning with Dysgu Cymraeg and I know of a lot of people learning via SSIW (Say something in Welsh). Happy to give you more information if you want to know more.

Does anyone know of a good Teacher of Welsh ( rather than a Welsh Teacher)?
