Definitely rabbits as I have just seen 2 near the footprints.

If they were seen last night, my bet would be that they were wayward haggises.

Please do not confuse dark animals of 10 days ago with the footprints in the snow from last night.

Richard missed giving the "no ordinary rabbit" link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgj3nZWtOfA

Did make me laugh!

Is it that puma again?!

Or the hound of the Baskervilles?

Tasmanian devil? Velociraptor? They do look like rabbit prints to me though - Lockdown boredom is sending my imagination into overdrive!

Jean, on the footprints image that you posted under adverts, asking for help: I think they are rabbits' footprints. You don't give a size, but that's what they look like.

"Rabbit footprints are strange because of the way they move about. They have two footprints side by side at the front, one in the middle, and one at the back."

If not, then something else that hops.

Almost certainly bunny.  Possibly hare.  Just another crittur sizing up your plants for lunch, Jean.

Does anyone have an automatic camera that could be set up in the tree? I have been watching too many wildlife programmes.

They could be wild boar. Wild boar were breeding near Freeland in 2018. Or perhaps wallabies. Also lots seen wild in Oxfordshire (apparently).

Or beavers (very unlikely). Or badgers (most probably). But male badgers are also called boars, not dogs ...

They heard about your geraniums, Jean. 😉 It would be great to see a  bear though, wouldn’t it!

At 5pm today there was one dark animal in the same place we viewed yesterday. It is quite large. By the time I grabbed a camera it was too dark and I was too far away.

Bears?  They were smallish but chunky. As it was getting dark I was not able to photograph them .They looked like small bears. Two of us used glasses with no result. Has anyone else seen them? As there are badgers in the adjoining field, one suggestion was the animal is Dog Badger.  I am unable to find a picture of this animal.
