Wed 22 Apr 2020, 20:11 I saw it, and I’m no expert but even to me it didn’t quite sound like a Spitfire, but whatever it was .... it was great! I wondered who it was and how they had managed to get into the air in this lockdown. They were having a wonderful time, but I wouldn’t have wanted to be in it! |

Fri 17 Apr 2020, 19:09 What you may have seen is a scaled down replica Spitfire. They are a
bit smaller than the real thing, and are powered by a V8 which is, I
think, a modified version of a car engine. I believe there are some
based at Enstone. This is the company that makes the kits for them. This is the Enstone-related link https://www.enstoneflyingclub.co.uk/spitfire-squadron |

Didn't know there was a display happening and a Spitfire came over no more than a hundred feet above my head. Unmistakeable engine sound as it approached, so evocative. Did the hairs stand up on the back of my neck?? Sorry, not Charlbury specific - but uncontentious! |

Fri 17 Apr 2020, 09:40 It was quite far away but to my untrained eye the wing decorations looked like this https://www.enstoneflyingclub.co.uk/spitfire-squadron However on reflection I think Richard is right - Slingsby. |
