Judy's reminded us about a Town sports day 135 years ago. On Monday August 3, 1885.

Now here's a prediction about Monday August 3, 2020:

- Wilderness, due to be held from July 30-August 2, will have been cancelled

- But England will be out of lockdown, and by August 3 it'll be safe for people to get together again

- So, Charlbury being Charlbury, we'll have organised a Town sports day for that weekend.

Now of course in 1885, the first Monday in August was a formal Bank Holiday and this year, that formal holiday be on the last Monday - when it almost always rains. So we'll have had our Town sports day on Saturday August 1.

And we might use the New New Cricket Ground - or the New New Cricket Ground as well as Five Acres. And we'll have organised it during April and May, when most of us will be at home and we've got exhausted by all the online pub quizzes we're doing.

Anyone volunteer to summon up support for the Town celebration when we all agree the Plague's gone?

Because it will. Honest.
