Which leads on to the fact that I was supposed to have my first ever trip abroad on the S.S. Uganda in 1982.  However, it was commandeered by the Navy as a hospital ship for troops injured in action in the Falkland War. All I got was a Falkland Islands t shirt with a picture of a penguin on it!

I agree Jean.

Coincidentally, the first time I saw it was the day before I went on my first ever trip abroad, which was aboard the S.S. Uganda wym-1584301188466, on an educational cruise! Dundee to the Baltic. 1973. There were hundreds of schoolkids from across the County of Angus. It was a big ship compared with H.M.S. Compass Rose - a sister of which I visited, H.M.C.S. Sackville wym-1584301111124 in Halifax, N.S. in 2017.
