Oh dear, Charlbury Weather is down because of the cut. Normal Service will be resumed as soon as possible!

SSE just phoned me, asking if the power was still off. I said it is now back on in Ditchley Rd, but he explained that there are pockets of Charlbury and the surrounding area that are still off.

There was no attempt to ask intrusive questions; the caller was just trying to work out which consumers are still affected. The instruction is to phone 105 if your power is still off,  so that they can map the properties that are still affected. They are still hoping to have the issues resolved by 1 p.m.

I just phoned 105 and all they seem to  want to do is use it as profile you in gathering as much information about you as they can including about whether you or any of the other people at the property have the coronavirus and are self isolating! I don’t see what any of this has to do with the power being off and told them so. At this pony the agent then relented it was expected to be on again by 1pm as others have said here.

Make note of the phone number to SSE 0800 072 7282 or apparently 105 also works - I just tried it from my landline and it worked!

A “disruption problem” sounds like a technical term for we haven’t got a clue or if we do we’re not going to tell you peasant! (I’ve been listening to too much Nick Abbott on LBC radio! The guy is a legend!

Which website are people getting their information from as there seems to nothing about live updates on SSE’s website

According to SSE, it was some kind of "distribution problem" (I think that was the term they used). I got various on and off "flickers", which they said might happen as they tried to round power round different areas of the power grid to avoid the fault.

Does anyone know what or who caused the fault? An over keen road driller for example?

The website is wrong. It states that power went off at 10:11 but it must have been earlier. I missed the end of the Matt Hancock interview on the Marr Show which finishes at 10:00!
