As Richard suggests we are not losing our Market Street Chemist- unless the legal documents in front of me are a complete waste of time...

My understanding is that you can only use the dispensary at the Medical Centre if you live more than one mile away from the pharmacy. I think that this rule applies to all doctors/pharmacies across the whole of England. There is a bit on the Charlbury Medical Centre website to this effect.

Jon,

Am not sure, and will happily be corrected, but is not the Dispensary only for people who live outside the Town?

This is written in haste, so forgive me for not having time to research.
I seem to remember a hiatus with the previous owners of The Bull trying to sell it off as private housing, which resulted in it being declared a "Community Asset" (?).
In case any new owner of the Pharmacy decided they wished to close it, would there be a possibility of doing the same thing? Just a thought ...

Does our Doctors Surgery have plans to have an on-site Pharmacy if the worst happens? So many rely on having our prescriptions supplied locally.

Hold on – we’re a long way from it being lost! The Midcounties Co-op are selling their entire pharmacy chain (i.e. all the pharmacies which aren’t in larger supermarkets). They’re hoping to sell them in a job lot. Other Co-ops have done the same – the Manchester-based Co-op group and the East of England Co-op have both sold their pharmacies on.

How sad that yet another shop will be lost from the town centre, but also a really important service for so many!

Midcounties Co-op’s intention is to sell the Charlbury store and the other 20 as pharmacies, yes. They’ve marketed them through an agency that specialises in selling pharmacy businesses. You can read their sale page here: https://hutchings-pharmacy-sales.com/project-nuno/

I was concerned to read on p 47 of "The Chronicle" that the Co-op is trying to sell the Pharmacy.

I, and I know of several others, rely on it for our regular supply of prescription medicines.

Does anyone know if it is to remain as a Pharmacy?

Apart from the inconvenience of having to drive or take the bus to Chippy or Witney once a month, I have occasionally used it (when Ben was there) for a consultation and, this year for my 'flu jab.  Also, to wean me off the fags.  This takes pressure away from the Surgery.
