The Windrush Bike Project in Witney are always looking for unwanted bikes – see http://windrushbikeproject.uk/community-workshop/donate-your-bike/ (and they’re lovely people).

Thanks Hannen. It doesn't look like it's a Charlbury thing any more. Will go and have a check on the notice board, and if not advertise them on the adverts section..

Donate your unwanted bikes to Africa
Clearing out at Christmas time? Find a good home for an old, unwanted bike!

The charity 'Re-cycle' takes old bikes to Africa, and teaches people how to mend and maintain them so that they can be used for safe and effective transportation.

We are aiming to collect 100 bikes by the end of January; if we get this many, the charity will come and collect them rather than us having to organise their delivery.

The collection point is the Vicarage in Church Lane - if no one is in, please just leave the bike in the front garden.

Further information about the charity can be found on www.re-cycle.org, or on the noticeboard in the Memorial Chapel in church.

Some time ago I recall there being a request to donate bicycles to a charity that I think was sending them to Africa..? Did I imagine that? Or is it still and on-going requirement?

I have a few old bikes which the children have grown out of now and I would rather donate them to a good cause than get a few quid or scrap for them.

If the charity thing isn't happening, then FREE to a good home. Will post pictures as soon as I can..
