I agree about the reception issues - we are with Phone Coop (which uses the same EE network).

Some providers (including EE I think) and some mobile phones allow you to connect to your home wifi and the call will be routed through your broadband direct rather than over the mobile network. Details for iPhone of "wifi calling" are at:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203032

However this only works if your mobile operator allows it and has the technology in place - sadly phone coop doesn't. I think there is a similar arrangement for Android phones.

A slightly more expensive arrangement is a signal booster - if you have a 3G phone. EE sell such a repeater box - that provides better indoor mobile reception. Basically it plugs into your broadband router to create a mini cell site (others can't log into it unless you give them permission). We haven't got one but details are at

Thanks for the info folks, all seems to be ok today,  I agree Matt not the best coverage in the country,I have dead spots in my house (Hughes Close),where reception is no-go. The EE transmitter is at the top of Woodstock Rd, I think we may suffer from an "umbrella effect" with some of the signal skipping over us. As you say Matt  EE or even when they were Orange do not offer the best customer service.  But hey-ho pay the bill and of we go!!

EE was down yesterday over most of the country for a few hours I'm with BT who i believe share the same system but where as my other half who is with EE could not make any phone calls whilst we were out for a walk my phone was working perfectly.

I have complained about EE coverage several times before. I'm on The Green and get very low signal indoors. EE's helpful response was:

I have reviewed the area via our fault checker, and nothing is showing in the area causing a decrease in performance, and on our actual service checker: https://ee.co.uk/why-ee/mobile-coverage#nav-2 it does show the 4G/3G and 2G being low to none indoors, the outdoor is showing good, yes some areas are stronger than others, but all areas do have a strong enough signal outdoors to use the internet, calls and text service.

I did point out that I actually live indoors, but have yet to get a reply.
