Sat 1 Mar 2008, 21:35 From our Vice Chair, Jon Carpenter (Evenlode Books on Market Street)... The work we do is as much to benefit the town as for business in general. There's an honorarium of around £500 a year, which is an insult for the work involved, but a nice little bonus when it comes! You get to meet and talk to new people, and the challenges are really what you set yourself. The work would suit someone who will themselves benefit from the higher profile it gives them, whether in the community or perhaps from increased tourism, for example. Equally, it could appeal to someone who has time to devote to the wellbeing of the community and who would like a little bit of a challenge. A retired person could take it on with alacrity! If you'd like to know more, call by for a chat (at Evenlode Books), or we could talk over a drink at lunchtime." Jon Carpenter, Vice Chair, Charlbury Business Community |
