Small metal/stud detector - wanted to borrow

Alas, no suitable magnet. Good idea though - hadn't thought of that. Still wanting to find something to locate this steel joist without ceilworm holes everywhere!

If the steel joist is only encased by 15mm plaster board, you will probably find that a good magnet will accurately locate it. They are certainly better than "stud detectors" for locating studs or metalic shields for electric cables

I've got to find a steel joist hidden behind plasterboard on the ceiling. If I could borrow a small metal detector if would save having to bore a long series of wormholes in the ceiling with a drill! Only need it for a few minutes to find said RSJ.
