A bit provocative there,Leah. Are we to invite Cornbury gunmen into our gardens?

Cornbury have all shooting rights in Charlbury, therefore they are responsible for vermin

In a neurobiological phase of my time, though we did tend to get over fond of some individuals so they became id'd by indelible markers on their fur. Became dissillusioned and changed direction.

Malcolm, what kind of black art is this? Is it killing or merely anaesthetising?

We had a problem several years ago. Eventually traced a broken drain which gave the rats access to the building - fixed that and took on a qualified Rodent Control Officer. He visits 4 times a year and we have had no problem since. He has also helped us out with wasps nests.

John, Phil absolutely agree with you. Brigid is lucky she only has them in garden, wait till you get them in your roof space and the destruction and mess they can make.

Brigid, I have to say that if you are planning to trap and re-home rats you are not being very realistic and nor are you being a good neighbour.
Rats are attracted to buildings because they provide warm and secure spaces so wherever you release them, they will find their way back to a building.
Rats are classified as vermin because they are destructive to the infrastucture of buildings and because they may carry disease in their faeces and urine.

We have a (growing) community of rats in our garden, attracted by our bird-feeders. We have adapted the feeders in a way that appears to make them rat-proof (if anyone is interested in how we've done that, let us know) but now need to trap the rats and take them somewhere away from our and others' houses. If you have one or more `live rat traps' we could borrow, we'd be very grateful. Please either email via this website or phone Brigid or David on 811940.
