I think it's probably also to do with the huge new housing estate that is envisaged for Chippy, just off the Burford Rd. The so-called Tank Farm Estate has had its housing allocation increased from 600 houses to 1200 houses in the latest version of the 2031 plan (still open for comments)!

There is also the suggestion of an eastern link road, off the Charlbury Rd, linking the Burford Rd to the A44 northbound. If this does indeed go ahead, there will be very long periods where access to Chippy via the Charlbury Rd will be blocked!

Perhaps, someone should resurface it after all these works. It has been messed about with several times over the last 5/6 years.

The Burford Road was dug up only last year for water main replacement. Coordination?

SGN is undertaking gas mains replacement work in Chipping Norton which will involve closing parts of the main Burford Rd, A361. This will affect people travelling in to Chipping Norton from Charlbury via Chadlington of Spelsbury.

Phase 1 = 7th March for approximately two weeks: Burford Rd will be closed from Albion St roundabout up to just below Walterbush Road

Phase 2 = approx mid-March for around 6-8 weeks: Burford Rd will be closed from above Walterbush Road to Charlbury Rd

Special arrangements will be in place for school buses.
