I'm happy to report an improvement with the Community Centre main doors operation...
As well as being able to use the push buttons to get in and out, visitors can now also pull (on the way in) or push (on the way out) one of the doors and it will open!
We encourage this old fashioned method, because that will help to keep our energy bills down. It's good for the biceps too!

Susie, it appears that you and others are not aware that a new Library was not part of the original TGC Community Centre plan. It was only after it all fell apart and the Friends of Charlbury Library had been formed and then lobbied for a library suitable for the town, that it was included. I have been in this morning and was delighted that the twenty years of campaigning and fund raising have had such a brilliant result. The Friends contributed £10,000 towards the Library. I am sorry that so many of our supporters are no longer with us to enjoy it.

I've now been twice - once for a coffee and once for a Pilates class. What an amazing facility. The way it is laid out is definitely going to encourage people to interact and socialise more, whether you are keen on serious sport or not. And I'm sure the cafe will be well used as it's perfectly located for young families using the playground. I'd like to personally thank everyone involved for working so hard to create a fabulous asset for the town.

Thank you for all the generous comments about the new Community Centre and the team who have brought it into being. On a personal note; I am hugely proud of Charlbury generally and the trustees in particular, for having the courage, vision and commitment to bring this fabulous resource to our small town.
On a practical note; we realise that it's not a simple matter to get in and out of the Centre! Much button finding and pressing is required! We are working on that.

I called in today Simon and was very impressed, the library is tastefully designed and the cafe looked very appealing it was very busy. A very nice lady showed me in the sports hall and it's absolutely massive. I'm sure it is going to be a great success and congratulations to all those who made it happen.

I agree with Susie, Charlbury library is going to be a wonderful place to be, and I hope people of all ages will use it.
I visited the Centre yesterday and it was buzzing with ladies' netball, casual visitors and some of the many volunteers who have done so much to make all this happen. Anyone with doubts about the building should give it a chance and go round it. Once they're inside they may feel differently.

It's amazing. I was helping at the library this morning and am so impressed. The place was buzzing! Thomas Gifford Trust should be proud of what they have achieved.

While the official opening is at 10.00 on Saturday morning, Pearl, the library and cafe are already open for business. Come in and have a look for yourself.

I went in there today for signing on the Charlbury Town Youth Football. It was great to see inside and for the kids to have their first kick around in the sports hall. It all looks amazing! Really looking forward to using it.
