The planners have been told by the committee to go and talk to APCOA about moving it to a more sensible and less obtrusive place. Very pleased with this!

Will the sign be taken down as it does not have planning consent? It is in the most stupid position as drivers cannot read it without blocking the entrance to the station.

So 72 agree (and 2 not). Many thanks to our district councillor Liz who was also originally told the sign didn't need consent, and has taken it on.

At last West Oxon planning are finally understanding what is and isn't permitted development and that advertising signs require consent - from all the money that APCOA have extorted from station users it is about time rules were followed on their part.

After finally accepting that this bright blue sign at the station entrance required planning permission, planning officers don't want to have to ask APCOA to move it or apply for consent and instead are asking planning committee to agree not to enforce it. Their advice to committee is that the sign's OK as it "preserves the character and appearance of the area" and "conserves the natural beauty of the Cotswolds"... Of course if it were moved inside the station away from the road, the small print could be read without standing in the road too. As there's no opportunity to make a planning comment I've set up a very quick online poll and I'll make sure WODC get the result. www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/JH5JSTQ
