Dont you think we are all loosing the plot a bit here? Its happenned and many years ago. The problem isnt due to privitisation but removal of the track and the inability of FGW to run an effective train SERVICE. This didnt happen with Thames Trains. At least they were on time. Brian, any constructive comments you have would be great. I agree that its a shame British Rail are not the only people we can shout at. The point of all this is to get the trains moving - and on time.

Well said!
When we had British Railways we had a proper integrated railway. There were very few cancelled trains as they had stock/drivers at most major points, and could get another train sorted to provide a service. Unfortunately FGW believe their own publicity - 'we' are going to do this - do that', but in reality it's all candyfloss.
In the fifties/sixties the 'Worcester line' was one of the best on British Railways - the staff had PRIDE and passengers (NOT customers FGW!!) could rely on the trains. You could go from Ascott-Under-Wychwood, Finstock or Combe in either direction - AND GET BACK THE SAME DAY! Today you need an overnight bag and possibly distress flares! BRING BACK BRITISH RAILWAYS

AT least with British Rail you only had one company to contact in regards to an issue and the ability to call the local station to find out times / delays etc. But with this method (Privatisation) it's always someone else's fault. At the end of the day there is no competition on this line (along with many others) so what is the point of Privatisation on this line as there is no competition.

Do I get the idea that some of you LIKE the privatised railway?
