Having read the very intelligent conversation between Chris Emsden and Richard Fairhurst on a previous thread, I think there is an obvious need for residents to pool their thoughts on what can be done about on-street parking. Plainly, just complaining is not going to do any good. We are where we are and, therefore, we have to think beyond the immediate 'problem areas'. This will have to be a long-term debate because no single solution will suit everybody: any feasible action will be a compromise. Our starting point must certainly be that the town centre can no longer accommodate all the drivers who want to park. Chris Emsden's previous remarks do present us with a challenge. I would hope that any responses to this post will address general rather than purely local issues. It will take some imagination.
