Thanks for that Rod
Yes Barry the Mill Field is surrounded by the Evenlode one one side and the Mill cut on the other so please go there and sit by the river its a lovely spot to sit and contemplate even in the Winter
There is even a Hilaire Belloc poem
The Evenlode
I will not try to reach again,
I will not set my sail alone,
To moor a boat bereft of men
At Yarnton's tiny docks of stone.

But I will sit beside the fire,
And put my hand before my eyes,
And trace, to fill my heart's desire,
The last of all our Odysseys.

The quiet evening kept her tryst:
Beneath an open sky we rode,
And passed into a wandering mist
Along the perfect Evenlode.

The tender Evenlode that makes
Her meadows hush to hear the sound
Of waters mingling in the brakes,
And binds my heart to English ground.

A lovely river, all alone,
She lingers in the hills and holds
A hundred little towns of stone,
Forgotten in the western wolds.

Barry - it's private land on both sides of Dyers Hill, gardens on one bank and Cornbury estate land on the other - though anglers and occasionally others walk along the grass strip around the field on the cricket club side of the road. But as Jim says, there is the Mill Field with access via Mill Lane. Understand your liking for sitting by the water's edge!

The Mill Field at the end of Mill Lane is public land and part of a signposted circular walk

I'll be visiting Charlsbury by train in the spring. I do like to sit by the water's edge and I noticed that the River Evenlode is not far from the station. I was wondering if the land either side of Dyers Hill adjacent to the West bank of the river would be private or public. Thanks. Barry L.
