Tue 12 Apr 2016, 16:23 Richard has posted in the news section a recent planning application for an estate of 5 detached houses off 26A The Slade (WODC reference: 16/00939/FUL - Tue 22 Mar 2016), & very near the school. Since the proposed development would affect parking in a lay-by much used by parents dropping off children for the school, it would be a good idea if those likely to be affected looked carefully at the plans. 18 extra car parking facilities would be provided as a part of the proposed estate, but the parking provision is in garages & not for those stopping on the road. Cars already double and triple park near the brow of this very dangerous hill, & I would have thought that these proposals would make the situation even worse. It's also worth bearing in mind also what happened in Ditchley Rd: that a plan for an small estate of 6 houses was approved, only for this to be followed by an additional proposal for 4 houses on the adjoining land. No affordable housing has to be provided for proposals to build 5 houses or less, so once again the developer would not need to address Charlbury's need for affordability. |
