Another option is to buy tickets through another provider, eg Cross Country trains, and you can print your own tickets or download their mobile app and have the ticket sent direct to your phone. Virgin Trains also offer the mobile app option.

The self-service ticket machine at Charlbury station was 'out of action' this afternoon. Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to pick up pre-paid tickets over the counter at the ticket office if the self-service machine isn't working?
