Exactly - the consuming society needs more recycling/damping centers, right?

I hadn't heard about the petition to parliament - this is narrow minded short term thinking as can arise with those who are bounded by a short term focus. It's a bit like the NHS concentrating services in one location and not thinking about the impacts on local transport and those that do not have access to a car! Recycling is a public service activity that benefits the environment over decades and ought to be facilitated by the local authority as there is no one obvious 'owner' of the service.

Of course uou are right Liz---we need a proper recycling centre---preferably somewhere not too far away---like Dean Pit ??!! Not only is the County Council proposing to shut down more centres, Councillor Rodney Rose is going to petition parliamment for the law to be changed so that people can be CHARGED for going to the few remaining ones !! You couldn't make it up---don't they realise that if people are not encouraged to recycle more will go to landfill which is not only an environmental disaster but the council will end up paying much more in fines.

We need a proper recycling centre, not bigger skips. Please go to the County Council website before October 5th and let them know what you think about their proposals to close down more recycling centres including Dix Pit. If that happens we won't have a single recycling centre in the whole of West Oxfordshire.

Looks like we need bigger cardboard skip also I know its wrong dumping other thing there but it must be better than seeing it dumped in country lanes and ditches, perhaps Liz could try and arrange for items dumped there instead of sending council lorries going all over the place collecting from remote areas.the people you are ffter are those who a few weeks ago looked like a lorry load of materials etc tipped in front of the salvation army skip.

Yes Simon that is indeed what several people think and it would be a good idea to look for clues as you say

Looking at what's there this morning (Sunday), it appears that there is quite a bit of 'commercial' cardboard, neatly stacked next to the cardboard bin - which is overfull. Maybe a quick survey of some of the boxes and containers might give a clue as to where they came from?

There have recently been quite a few items left by the recycling bins in the car park and currently there is an old TV there.
Everyone should be aware that only items in the bins are collected and that anything else is considered fly tipping
Fly tipping or Illegal waste disposal is a serious criminal offence and carries a fine up to £50,000 and 12 months' imprisonment
As there are usually people around the car park it is quite likely you would be noticed and reported
So please heed this warning
I realise that it is annoying now there is no convenient recycling centre but our District Councillor Liz Leffman is working hard to find some solution which I am sure all residents would welcome. However until then BEWARE!
