JAG are now recommended as a supplier by OxLogs which is reassuring because I used them once a few years ago and had to dry the wood out for a further 12 months before it was dry enough to burn well. Supply can be very variable if a supplier runs out of their best dry logs before the end of the season. Good to buy a load in the spring so you have an extra summer of drying before you burn it - also get it at previous year's price. For more information about logs see the OxLogs Information for buyers page.

If you want to cut your own firewood, there's a workshop training session at Centenary Woodland this Saturday starting at 10am, learning how to fell young trees with hand tools. Logs can be taken away by the people taking part and will be suitable for burning in wood-burning stoves after drying out for 2 years. Selection of trees for thinning will be in accordance with the management plan. Phone 01608 811057 to book a place.

I use SL Forestry who deliver from Woodstock up to 3 tonnes at a time - and the wood was very dry.
