You can check some safety aspects yourself. If you remove the cover you can see if the polystyrene-like material underneath is cracked or dented. If it is damaged at all you shouldn't use it.

You might try taking it into Halfords. There is a very helpful lady in the Botley Road branch, who specialises in fixing/selling child car seats, and I am sure if you asked her nicely she would be willing to look at it for you. Maybe you could buy an extra torch or something in thanks!

Does anyone know if you can have a second hand child car seat safety checked? Someone suggested that the fire brigade sometimes do this. Have emailed the County Council but no reply as yet - has anyone any suggestions?
