Sorry to be serious on such a nice day, but can I draw people's attention to the notice of Planning Application, posted on the lampost outside the Corner House. It is a planning application for a development consisting of 90 new houses, reception area, tennis courts and childrens play area, to be built directly adjacent to Finstock at the top end, on the Leafield crossroads. Finstock itself consists of about 100 dwellings, so this will represent a nearly 100% increase to the extent of the village.
The 90 units - some of which are three and four bedroom properties - are described as holiday lodges, but 'holiday makers' will own their houses and will be able to stay in them for around 11 months of the year. There will be no provision for affordable housing, and other restrictions respecting housing development in rural areas will not apply.
Residents have until July 7th 2006 to respond to this application. Again, the notice (which looks similar to one you would post if you wanted to add a conservatory to your house) is on the lamppost outside the Corner House in Charlbury.
