By the way, iTunes offers a vast range of learning material (some of it video, some just audio) completely free of charge under the 'Podcasts' and 'iTunes U' tabs. Just download iTunes (it's free) and explore. It's far from all academic. And people can get together in one another's houses to follow courses or series of talks. Has anyone tried this? There are courses in just about every language under the sun, for example... or bioethics... or Schrodinger's cat...

The U3A has an active branch in Chippy and their posters appear in Charlbury. I don't think they have a website.

We've been hearing a lot in the last few weeks about the demise of Adult Education in Charlbury. This has been a national problem. One new activity that has arisen to take its place is the University of the Third Age (http://www.u3a.org.uk/). Given the age profile of the residents of Charlbury, I wonder why we haven't seen a development along these lines. With all the meeting spaces available in Charlbury, it might have a lot of potential....
